The J.P. Hall Charities Scholarship Program fulfills the dreams of Clay County high school seniors who would like to go to college but cannot afford it. These needs based awards are given annually to Clay County public high school seniors. Scholarships are awarded to St. Johns River State College and the University of North Florida. The award amounts are based on other assistance the students have received from other sources including Bright Futures.
Students must submit an application and some applicants may be asked to interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee. Applicants are chosen to receive scholarships based on the following criteria: GPA, financial need, community service and recommendations. Applicants are notified in May of the decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee. All decisions of the Committee are final. Once awarded a scholarship to St. Johns River State College or the University of North Florida, monies can not be transferred to another institution.
Students who receive a scholarship from the J.P. Hall Charities are eligible to reapply each year they continue their college education. This college funding is only available to students attending St. Johns River State College or the University of North Florida for an undergraduate degree.
