YMCA Basketball Academy: Instructor-Led Developmental Basketball League

Take your game to the next level with the YMCA Basketball Academy’s Instructor-led Developmental Basketball League at the Dye Clay YMCA.



Our Academy Developmental League is designed to assist players (9-12 and 13-16 yr) with the evolution of their individual skill level while enhancing their level of play in a focused, competitive, and structured environment through instructor-led skill and drill practice training sessions and game coaching. Emphasis is on skill development, team play, and basketball IQ enhancement. Sportsmanship, skill progression and teamwork are emphasized. Everyone plays (automatic sub rotation)! Practice and games are led by YMCA basketball staff.



Academy players receive 7 games, a single elimination tourney, a weekly one-hour instructor-led practice training session (entire age divisions train together), instructor coaches, game jersey/shorts, and tourney champ t-shirts for tourney winners.



Our entire YMCA basketball coaching staff, led by Dye Clay YMCA Basketball Coordinator Coach Joey Williams, collectively work together with the players in our program to share their knowledge and basketball insight.

Players are evaluated, assessed and divided into balanced teams by our coaching staff for more competitive and balanced play.
Our Academy league is coed. We select, divide and position PLAYERS on teams based on skill specific attributes in order to balanced squads at each position.
During the session, we work to build players and teams to compete through skill development, game IQ, and team play.
No coach is assigned a set team for the session.
Coaches share their game knowledge during practice training sessions and during assigned coaching duties on game days.
Players glean basketball insight from our staff during every shared experience with the ultimate goal of taking their skills and game to the next level.
Automatic sub rotation for players during game play (managed and enforced by coaching staff).

Practices Start: Tuesday, March 31 (9-12 yr at 5:30pm / 13-16 yr at 6:30pm)

Games Begin: SA, April 5

Games End: SA, May 24

Ages: 9-12 & 13-16 (Space Limited to 44 players per age division)





Cost

Members: $200 (includes uniform)

Non-Members: $350 (includes uniform)



What to Wear

Jersey/Shorts provided. Basketball shoes are recommended. Jewelry is not allowed to be worn during YMCA Youth Sports. This includes earrings (earrings cannot be taped).



Player Development

If you are interested in taking your basketball game to another level, our Academy basketball league is the program for you. Our Academy focuses on skill development, basketball IQ, teamwork, team play, and fundamental skill progression. Our Academy players are trained, coached, and set up for competitive team play.
